Tenuta’s Deli Exclusive Four Roses OBSO Barrel Pick

Tenuta’s Deli Presents: Exclusive Four Roses OBSO Barrel Pick Debuting August 23, 2025
Kenosha bourbon lovers, mark your calendars. On Saturday, August 23, 2025, Tenuta’s Deli is debuting something truly special: an exclusive Four Roses OBSO Single Barrel Pick chosen personally by Chris and Nick Tenuta with the help of two good friends.
This barrel is the result of a trip the group took to Cox’s Creek, Kentucky, in late April 2025, where they sampled and hand-selected this one-of-a-kind bourbon. After months of anticipation, it’s finally coming home to Kenosha, and you’ll be among the first to taste it.

The Journey to Kentucky
In April, Chris and Nick traveled to the Four Roses warehouse and bottling facility in Cox’s Creek, KY. There, they had the rare opportunity to sample directly from the barrel, an experience that combines craftsmanship, tradition, and the sensory adventure that only Four Roses can deliver.
Four Roses Bourbon is steeped in history, beginning with a love story in 1888 when founder Paul Jones sealed his marriage proposal with a corsage of four roses. Today, that same dedication and passion is evident in every bottle produced at their Lawrenceburg distillery and Cox’s Creek facility. Learn more about their story here.

What Makes the OBSO Recipe Special
At Four Roses, bourbon is crafted from 10 distinct recipes, each with unique flavor profiles. Some recipes stand proudly on their own as single-barrel expressions, while others are blended into the brand’s beloved Small Batch offerings.
This month’s pick is a true standout: the OBSO recipe, created from Four Roses’ high-rye “B” mashbill paired with their fruit-forward “O” yeast strain.
Here’s what makes OBSO unforgettable:
- Flavor Profile: Expect a deep balance of rich fruit notes layered over bold rye spice.
- Fruit-Forward Complexity: Flavors like maraschino cherry, ripe red apple, and light berry mingle with undertones of caramel and vanilla.
- Aging Effect: Younger OBSO barrels shine with crisp, bright fruit, while more mature barrels develop darker, candied fruit character with mellow spice.
For perspective, the O yeast strain is so influential that while OBSO and OESO recipes make up just 30% of Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon, they deliver some of its most defining flavors.
This isn’t just another release on the shelf. It’s Kentucky craftsmanship brought directly to you. When you pour a glass of this OBSO, you’re experiencing bourbon exactly as Chris and Nick tasted it straight from the barrel in Kentucky.
