A Legacy of Authenticity: Tenuta’s Deli and Our Heritage Bread Suppliers

At Tenuta’s Delicatessen, our commitment to quality and tradition runs deep. For over seven decades, we have been proud to serve the Kenosha community with the finest Italian specialties, and central to that is our selection of freshly baked bread. Our three main bread suppliers—Paielli’s Bakery, Cardinali’s Bakery, and Turano Baking Company—each have a rich Italian heritage that spans generations. The dedication of these family-run bakeries to authentic craftsmanship mirrors our own values, making them the perfect partners for Tenuta’s.

Paielli’s Bakery: A Local Staple Since 1923

Paielli’s Bakery, a Kenosha landmark, has been serving the Southeast Wisconsin and Northeast Illinois area for over a century. This family-owned bakery has evolved with the times but maintained its core commitment to quality and tradition. With state-of-the-art production capabilities, Paielli’s bakes an astonishing 7,000 loaves of bread each day while preserving the high standards that Sante and Matilda Paielli established back in 1923. Their dedication to blending innovation with heritage is why Tenuta’s is proud to offer their delicious bread, which pairs perfectly with our deli’s renowned sandwiches.

Cardinali’s Bakery: A Revival of Tradition

Founded in 1915, Cardinali’s Bakery has been a cornerstone of Kenosha’s Italian community for generations. Though the bakery closed temporarily, its legacy lives on as the bakery reopened under the leadership of former employee Joe Szewotala Sr. and his family. Cardinali’s is known for its traditional Italian breads, cookies, and pastries, and we are thrilled to feature their products at Tenuta’s. Their bread brings a taste of old-world Italy to our deli, reminding our customers of the importance of quality, craftsmanship, and family tradition.

Turano Baking Company: A Chicago Classic

Founded by Mariano Turano, who immigrated from Calabria, Italy, the Turano Baking Company began as a small bake shop in Chicago. What started with one man’s passion for old-fashioned Italian Round Bread has grown into a renowned bakery, providing some of the finest Italian bread in the Midwest. With five state-of-the-art baking facilities across the country, Turano continues to honor the traditions and techniques passed down from Mariano, while embracing innovation. At Tenuta’s, we are proud to offer their authentic breads, which complement our Italian specialties.
